Airport Profile

Who we are
The aerodrome was built during the 60âs and was predominantly used as an air force base, with limited civilian traffic. Closed to civilian traffic during the conflict, it was reopened again as a military base under the control of UN on January 16th, 2000.
KFOR handed over the responsibility of the Airport operations to UNMIK on 1st of April 2004. These responsibilities were placed in ATCS and PEAP.
ATCS and PEAP were merged under the name of Prishtina International Airport J.S.C. on 30 June 2005.
PIA operates part of the airspace over the territory of Kosovo on behalf of KFOR.

Where we are
The Aerodrome is located in the eastern valley of Kosovo and surrounded by two range of mountains respectively located to the west and to the south. The closest summit to the Aerodrome is Golesh Mountain to the west, which reaches the height of 1019 meters. Mushtishte Mountain about 35 kilometers from the aerodrome to the south, reaches the height of 1723 meters.
Prishtina International Airport is located approximately 15 km southwest of the city of Prishtina ; its elevation is 545,4 meters above sea level. The aerodrome reference point is 42? 34â22ââN and 21? 02â09ââE, (WGS 84).
The Aerodrome land, 194.2835 hectares, and since 1999 is under the administrative control of UNMIK.

Where we are in the region
The outstanding position (situated at the hart of Balkans and Southern Europe) and the advantage of being the originating base for the fastest possible way to reach Turkey and Central Europe, make Prishtina Airports a strong competitor for every other Airport Operator in the South East Europe.
Extending its influence on the South Serbia, Northen Macedonia and Northen Albania, and eastern Montenegro (closer than 100 km).
Prishtina Airports System owns the air transportation monopoly in Kosova,

We are "natural hub"
Kosova is located in the centre of the Western Balkans, in a compact territory with an almost circular shape.
Thanks to this layout, the capital of Kosova, Prishtina, is almost equidistant from Thessaloniki, Sofia, Tirana, Belgrade, and Podgorica as well as from Budapest, Bucharest and Zagreb.

What are our activities
The aerodrome essentially accommodates two types of activities: civilian and military traffic.
The military traffic consists of military aircraft and helicopters in support of KFOR intervention in Kosova.
Terminal is divided in 5 different sectors:
Arrival Part
